Dana Leno
Choreographer / Dance Instructor / Fitness Instructor / Studio Administrator
dana@allthatdance.net
dana@allthatdance.net
Dana started dancing at the age of 4. A few years later, she started performing with the competition lines. Having the desire to progress further in dance, she switched to Larkin Dance Studio at the age of 10. She studied under Michele Larkin-Wagner, Molly Larkin-Symanietz, Geno Forliti, Ted Kivett, and Michelle Lucci...just to name a few. Her background includes ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, character, hip-hop, and contemporary; but finds most enjoyment with tap and hip-hop. While part of the competition lines at Larkin, she performed on the regional and national level while attending master classes from instructors and choreographers from all over the world.
Some of her achievements include: Multiple Top 10 group numbers at regional and national competitions; 1st Overall Senior Large Group Tap and 2nd Overall Senior Large Group Jazz at L.A. Underground Nationals in Las Vegas 1995; and 1st place Tap Solo at Showbiz Regional and National Competition 1997.
She met Mara back in 2001, randomly at a restaurant, and they have been inseparable ever since. Although she only taught regular classes at the studio that first year due to moving out of state and then back to the cities, she has been working behind the scenes ever since (choreography, music selection and editing, substituting when needed, administration tasks, video editing, and managing online presence). Now living back in Hutchinson, her involvement only increases as she teaches hip-hop and fitness classes.
Her teaching and choreography experience include: Assistant Dance Instructor for I.S.D. 196 at the age of 13, Head Choreographer for Eagan High School's Encore! production 2003, choreographed for Fil-Minnesota Association, freelance choreographer/teacher as ShortFuse Dancer, former licensed Zumba Instructor (ZIN), and owner/operator of ShortFuse DanceFit (dance-based cardio and toning fitness classes).
Dana enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, their dachshund, Frank and cat, Beans. She assists her husband with his DJ / Karaoke company when not in the studio and loves fixing computers in her spare time.
